Title I

Washington High School is very excited to introduce Title I funding to enhance our program offerings. Briefly, Title I funding is federal funding designated to target academic intervention for our most struggling students. Simply, our hope is to increase the number of students who stay in high school through graduation. Like any new program, Title I has struggled to find highly qualified math and language arts teachers.

In order to maximize the use of this year’s dollars, Title I plans to offer after school tutoring and a summer school opportunity in June and again in August for identified students. With these dollars we have been able to hire two family and community school specialists. One specialist will work with 9th grade families and the other will work with 10th grade families. Title I will expand in fall to offer intensive intervention courses in algebra I and English 10.
