CTE: Career and Technical Education

CTE at Washington High

College and Career Pathway Programs are open to Washington Students in the 11th and 12th grade. Transportation is available for students to programs outside their home school. Applications are required and the deadline is February 24th. Applications can be submitted to Mrs. Diane Carter, Career Guidance Specialist in the Guidance Department. Dual credit is available for most programs and is subject to passing college admission exams. Industry recognized certifications may also be available.

  • Preparing for College & Careers
    • Explore careers of interest and develop a 4-year plan+ for career & college
  • Introduction to Construction
    • Students will explore the construction field stressing construction jobs, safety, tools and practices
  • Computers in Design and Production
    • Students will learn basic hands-on design processes for Mechanical and Architectural careers
  • Introduction to Housing & Interior Design
    • Learn about design principles, space planning, texture/color design for interiors
  • Digital Citizenship
    • Students learn fundamental computer keyboarding and application skills
  • Information Communication Technology
    • Students learn internet, hardware, and application fundamentals: Earn IC3 certification
  • Introduction to Business
    • Explore the skills required for operating a business in the 21st century
  • Accounting
    • Learn entry level accounting principles/procedures used in business ownership
  • Principles of Business Management
    • Learn roles, responsibilities and challenges of business managers
  • Financial Services
    • Advanced accounting, finance, and business fundamentals 
  • Business Law & Ethics
    • Learn & apply legal principles & ethical decision making in the business setting
  • Principles of Marketing
    • Students learn basics of selling, promoting, and pricing products/services in a global economy
  • Child Development & Adv. Child Development
    • Students will study human development from conception through adolescence
  • Interpersonal Relationships
    • This class focuses on the multi-relationship challenges that every human faces
  • Nutrition & Wellness
    • Focus on healthy living, shopping on a budget and learning basic cooking skills
  • Introduction to Culinary & Hospitality
    • Intro to the careers in hospitality, tourism, & culinary arts including safety & customer service
  • Human & Social Services I
    • This class creates projects and identifies concerns in the community
  • Human Development & Wellness
    • Learn about the basic stages of human development
  • Introduction to Manufacturing
    • Introduction to tools, machine safety, and basic machining fundamentals.
  • Introduction to Transportation
    • This class covers theory and operation of automobiles and parts
